About the Database

This online English Database of African women experts is established by the Capacity Building Unit of the African Women’s Development Fund.The objective of this database is to develop a resource base of African women’s experts to enhance the work of the women’s movement in Africa. This is also meant to fill in the information gap on African women’s experts in development whose expertise can be tapped to enhance developmental agendas.

The database contains profiles of fifty (50) African Women with backgrounds and expertise in twelve (12) thematic areas. These are health and sexual reproductive rights, governance democracy and political participation, peace building and security, economic empowerment, media, HIV&AIDS, natural resources; land and water, food security, ICT, education, women’s human rights, and organizational development. Information in the database is updated periodically and the number of profiles developed will increase with time.
